Coraline - Character Design

I love the character designs in Laika's stop motion production of Coraline for many reasons the first of which being that the characters are recognizable as silhouettes because their shapes are so clear.

I really like Shane Prigmore's aesthetic as well; His characters have a charming crookedness about them that I find quite endearing. They also maintain a very sharp quality of line and have quite exaggerated features.

I love these expressions of Coraline.

The aesthetic is quite Geometric as well which holds through past the pre-production stages of the film. The final film still holds the very strong aesthetic established by Shane Prigmore.
