I’ve been snooping around on James Baxter’s blog lately and hungrily consuming his skilful pencil tests. He has worked as a Character Animator for Disney as well as Dreamworks and now runs his own company, James Baxter Animation. His animation is seamless and almost appears as if it was computer animated.
Here are some screen shots of Baxter’s pencil test from the Disney production ‘Enchanted’. This is the scene in which Giselle steps off of a carriage.

The most impressive aspect of this is the incredible detail of Giselle’s dress. By detail I don’t mean the frills, rather the incredible detail of movement of the dress. Giselle seems to have realised something or remembered something and is doing a lot of back and forth motion between the carriage and wherever she is headed. As she is moving from one side to another, she is grabbing her dress periodically sending a delicious and flowing wave of motion through the frills. This is the most delightful execution of follow-through I have ever seen.

Here is another pencil test. This was an Animation demo for the class of Gobelins school of Animation in Paris.
Once again, the motion (even in a rough animation) is seamless. I also really like the anticipation of the sneeze contrasted by the actual sneeze followed by the little piglet plopping down onto the ground and rubbing it’s snout.
