Identify - Chuck Jones - Wile E. Coyote

Chuck Jones is my absolute favorite Animator of all time. His character designs are very poignant and particular, and his timing in animation is the epitome of comedy. I could write hundreds of blog entires about his work but for now, let's just admire one of his Character creations: Wile E. Coyote.

A lanky, tall, scraggly fellow with big awkward feet and a droopy snout. Wile E. Coyote is a villain that has the absolute worst of luck. Typically, the traps he sets for the Road Runner are the same traps he falls into eventually.

Yes, the character design is fantastic. Now let's see one of my favorite scene's with Wile E. Coyote.

The two things that always have me rolling on the floor laughing are the ends of his feet flapping in the wind, and his cocky attitude.

Because she suit is too large for his body, the ends of Wile E.'s tights are flapping awkwardly in the wind. At the same time, he slowly flaps forward with his snout high in the air, incredibly proud of himself. He then shoots the audience a look the seems to say 'I'm amazing, eh?' and SLAM! right into a cliff. Why did Chuck Jones have Wile turn his head so far as to be able to look at the audience with his right eye instead of simply his left? This small detail emphasizes his attitude.
